Planning for an Emergency

Being prepared for an emergency involves not only planning, but also talking to your children about what to expect. Here are some tips on what to tell your kids:

  • Based on their age, tell them what an emergency is, in words they can comprehend.

  • Tell them what emergency people might arrive to help (firefighters, police officers, paramedics).

  • Work with your children to memorize their home address and phone number, as well as the emergency response number.
